My Neon Tetras

Recently I bought a group of Neon Tetras for my newly setup ( not finished yet) octagon tank. I've  always wanted have a tank with a school of Neon Tetras and Cardinal Tetras. Still I couldn't ve found Cardinal Tetras but Now I do have Neon Tetras. They are one of my favorite fish kinds.

Neon Tetras are peaceful and colorful. They get along well with other fish. Well they have to since they are small which is their biggest weak point. One another bad thing about Neon Tetras is they notoriously vulnerable to disease. Specially for white spots ( Ich ).

I bought 6 pairs and I make a mistake ! I put them in to my community tank before quarantine them. Then I noticed one or two has Ich ! So I had to treat the whole tank. Its always better quarantine new fish  before adding them to your tanks. Check them 2-3 days and see if they are all healthy and no illnesses.

I noticed few things about Neon Tetras. They are known as school fish which stay and swim as a group. But I noticed this happen only if they get frightened. In other times they just wonder around alone or in pairs. I don't know its just my Neon Tetras or its how Neon Tetras normally behave. Also though they are peaceful towards other fish its not same among them. Like Discus fish they fight with their own kind. I have duals allover the tank. Also these guys are not shy they come running when you feed them.
