API Freshwater Master Test Kit

API Freshwater Master Test Kit
One of the best Aquarium water testing kits in market

Today I nearly lost all of my new Pearlscale Goldfish after a 40% water change. Usually I do small water changes once every day or two with tap water and today they all looked very uncomfortable after the water change. I haven't had any waster testing kits so there were no way to find what's wrong. Fortunately I always have a spare tank read with water for emergencies and moved all five Goldfish to that tank. Now they are all fine and swimming around happily.

This is why every one who is into this hobby should have a spare tank for emergencies and also a Aquarium water testing kids ready. You might not need it for small water changes like 10% but if you do a big water change around 40% or more it's better test the new tank water.

My favorite accessory for this tast is API Freshwater Master Test Kit which I think the best in market today. It costs around $23 but you can do more than 500 tests using this kit. So it's totally worth the money you spend for that. Plus you must have it if you love your fish. It has to be there near your tank it's it might be too late to order one when you are already in trouble.

The kid  includes a laminated color card to compare with test result, four test tubes and a tray to hold these. Also there is an instruction booklet on how to correct unsafe water conditions. This kit is very easy to use and you get results in seconds.

API Freshwater Master Test Kit does all important tests you need to check nitrogen cycle. You can test all things like pH, High Range pH, Ammonia, Nitrite & Nitrate.

There are few items you might want buy along withe the test kit. Which you need if somethings wrong with water.
  • API Aquarium Salt. [ Here ]
  • API Ammo-Lock Ammonia Detoxifier. [ Here ]
  • API Stress Coat Water Conditioner. [ Here ]
  • API Tap Water Conditioner. [ Here ]
It's always good to stay ready for anything. I learned it hard way that it's good to keep important meds for fish ready rather than waiting for fish to be sick before buying these. One thing to remember is make sure you check expire dates of these meds in your Fish first-aid box. haha.

I think having a spare tank is very important too. If somethings wrong with water you need another backup option there ready for you. If you have a spare tank with old water you can move fish there for a while till you get things under control. This shouldn't be your quarantine / Hospital tank. I'm talking about a separate tank to house your fish if something goes wrong in your main tank. You don't need to decorate it with everything. just keep it filled with water and make sure to change water time to time.  You can use it's water when you do a small water changes.
